InterpretationThe Victory Book Campaign, from 1942 to 1943, was the combined effort of the United Service Organizations (USO), the Red Cross, and the American Library Association. A national total of 18, 449, 974 books were donated by the public, collected by libraries and sent to military camps for soldiers. Illinoisans alone contribute over three million books to the campaign.
