InterpretationThe Schacht Manufacturing Company of Cincinnati, Ohio, produced "high-wheelers" or automobiles that had carriage-like wheels and bodies. Schacht was an old-time buggy producer that started a sideline business of producing automobile components shortly after the turn of the century. Schacht's first automobile was a two-cylinder ten-horse power runabout in 1904. The 'Invincible Schacht' became the company's slogan and the 'Three Purpose Car' (a runabout convertible to family car and delivery wagon) was a popular body style. All Schachts were water-cooled, and wheel- steered. Later cars also had four-cylinder engines, but outgrew their buggy appearance and were offered with either pneumatic or solid rubber tires. In 1913 Schacht ended the production of motorcars and focused on the manufacture of trucks. The company changed its name to the Schacht Motor Truck Company and continued in business until the late 1930s.
