DescriptionLeather-bound Bible, large, embossed with gilt decorations, rebound spine & corners. Cover has decorative border around man holding up a stone tablet, under "S.A. & S.B. Corneau". Color lithographs on frontpiece & title page; red, green, & brown ribbons sewn down the spine. Main page: "Butler's Edition, The Holy Bible Containing the Old and New Testaments..." Family births, deaths, & marriages on special pages between Apocrypha and New Testament. L 11 1/2" x W 10 3/8" x H 4".
InterpretationOriginal Bible used by the Corneau family, from 1849 onwards. Donated to the Lincoln Home in 1997. The Corneaus lived kitty-corner from the Lincolns. Charles Corneau ran a drugstore downtown.
